About the Firm
Nothing energizes me more than meeting innovative, socially-conscious, and entrepreneurial people who start a sentence with "someone should." For this reason, I set out to create a firm that empowers entrepreneurs, small business owners, political candidates, and advocacy organizations by helping them create business entities and campaigns. From there, I help clients design effective strategies to change "someone should" to "we made."
To get clients to "we made," I created a firm that focuses on three specific practice areas:
First, I wanted to build a firm that makes running for office, or creating an advocacy organization, as accessible as possible for all. As a result, this firm empowers community-minded clients through campaign and election law services - and does so at an affordable price point with the kind of individual attention you can only find at a boutique law practice. Whether you are a first-time candidate running for a seat on your local school board, or you are a group of like-minded community leaders navigating a Political Action Committee (“PAC”) through complex state and federal election laws, this firm can call upon over a decade of political campaign and state government service to guide you every step of the way.
Second, this firm provides business law services to entrepreneurs and small businesses. From guiding you through creation of your business entity, to drafting contracts and providing industry-specific regulatory review and compliance, Thompson Law PC has you covered. The firm also provides limited wills, trusts, and estate planning services to business clients, and I am proud to announce that this firm can help entrepreneurs turn their ideas into intellectual property through an exclusive arrangement with the innovative and tech savvy services of Scott Nyman of Nyman IP.
Next, this firm provides administrative law services to clients that find themselves before state regulatory bodies, like professional licensing boards, local zoning boards, or industry-specific state and federal regulators. To help clients navigate complex bureaucracies or negotiate with regulatory agents, this firm can draw on experience within the highest levels of state government to identify the right decision makers and craft winning arguments.
How we work with you
This firm provides these legal services to all through alternative fee structures, as well as flat fees where possible. Last, but certainly not least, I aim to make my clients feel that they’ve done more than hire a lawyer- they've started an ongoing relationship with a trusted counselor.
Andrew J. Thompson
Andrew works with small businesses and startups, assisting them with issues ranging from business entity creation, industry specific compliance concerns, corporate governance, and contract drafting.
In addition to representing business clients, Andrew brings over a decade of government, public policy, and political campaign experience to the practice of law. With this perspective, Andrew works with activists to help them achieve their organization’s goals while ensuring compliance with complex federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Andrew also advises political candidates on campaign formation and compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
Andrew’s experience includes working as the Personal Assistant and Deputy Press Secretary to former Ohio Governor Ted Strickland, where he crisscrossed a diverse, politically complex, and nationally influential state of over eleven and half million people, and learned the intricacies of managing a fifty-six-billion-dollar enterprise. Andrew also worked in the Governor’s Office of Public Liaison, where he helped organizations and private citizens navigate the complexities of state government and contributed to the creation of a new cabinet-level state agency, the Ohio Department of Veterans Services.
Andrew currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia, where he is the founder and principal attorney of Thompson Law, PC. Andrew participates in several public interest and pro-bono legal organizations, and was recently selected to work with Lawyers for Equal Justice, a program sponsored by the State Bar of Georgia that recognizes young, entrepreneurial, public-interest minded lawyers with innovative, socially conscious, and sustainable law practices.
